Winter Challenge
THANKS TO ALL THOSE WHO BRAVED THE ELEMENTS OF THE 2012 WINTER CHALLENGE; WE HOPE YOU HAD A GOOD DAY AND LOOK FORWARD TO WELCOMING YOU BACK ON SUNDAY 29TH DECEMBER 2013 FOR THE NEXT WINTER CHALLENGE.
The SPAM Winter Challenge is a Mountain Bike Enduro (CX Bikes also welcome) event held on the hard pack – all weather trails of Salisbury Plain.
For 2012 we are back to our traditional slot for the event of between Christmas and New Year, with the event taking place on Sunday 30th December. So, come and work off your Christmas dinner and build up a thirst for the New Year celebrations.
This should be the 'best ever' Winter Challenge!
The Challenge is a relaxed event and the riding isn't particularly technical. You can blast around or take it easy, it's up to you. There are three distances to choose from: 25km, 35km and 50km.
The route is suitable for riders of all abilities including children who can undertake either the 25km or 35km routes, providing they are with an accompanying adult. There is also a family entry available for the 25km route for just £30.
There will be lots of marshals out on the course to take care of you should you need any assistance as well as professional medics in case you have an accident.
At the event base we will have good quality food, an MTB trader for spares and kit and plenty of parking and toilets available.
Proceeds from the event will be donated to local charities. In previous years we have given money to Wiltshire Air Ambulance, Help For Heroes, a number of local schools and pre-schools, Salisbury Hospital and The Lion's Club to name but a few. See here for more details.
